Bushkill Falls

This is Bushkill Falls in the nearby Poconos Mnts. It is a beautiful hike and along the way you see several waterfalls in addition to Bushkill Falls. The trail is man made, with bridges and stairs all along and over the river.

Toynbee Tile

You can see these tile messages in random places around the city. I searched online for more information and it turns out these tiles cropped up around the 80s in various cities in the U.S. and South American capitals (Wikipedia). There are many possible interpretations of the tiles but most agree that the creator is a Philadelphia native.

Wawa Hoagiefest!

Wawa is a convenience store in this area and they sponsored the 4th of July festivities this year in Philadelphia! During the parade they threw out little stuffed hoagies and this little girl next to me managed to snag one! Kind of cute for a plush sandwich!

Independence!

On July 8th, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read publicly for the first time in Philadelphia right outside of Independence Hall. On July 8th, 2010 (and July 8th every year) there is a reenactment of this event!

Cooling Off

The fountain at Logan Square seemed like a good place for many people to cool off on the 4th of July. I temp was about 99F so I don't blame them! (despite the clear "no swimming" signs!)
