Is it snow? Or is it gum?
Another gem from Hershey Park- the snowman is made of ice breakers gum with recees for buttons and twizzlers braided to look like a scarf!

Have a Sweet Christmas!

Candy house at Hershey Park! The house is made totally out of Hershey's brand candy and gum! Even the windows that look like stained glass are actually melted jolly ranchers! Hershey Park is about two hours away from Philadelphia and is definitely a sweet (ha!) place to visit!

Hard at work? Or hardly working?

When I took the picture of the bull statue (yesterday's post) these construction workers complained that no one ever takes a picture of them! They asked me to take their picture, so I did! I guess it was break time.

Do you dare?

In Philadelphia there are only two subway trains that go around the city. One goes North-South up and down Broad St and the other goes East and West. All the other trains go in and out of the city to the suburbs and other areas.
This subway entrance looks a little dark and scary for my taste!

City Swap: Portland!

Old timey theatre in downtown Portland. Its the Portland Center for the Prefroming Arts. I love the old fashioned sign on this building!

I am doing a city swap with my "sister city," Portland, Oregon! I am posting some pictures from the Portland area, and over at Portraits of Portland she will be posting some photos from her trip to Philadelphia! City Swap!

If you are interested in doing a "city swap" please email me at: blogginginpa (at) gmail (dot) com! Not all cities are available at this time. Some available cities include: New York, Forks/Olympic Peninsula, Orlando, West Coast of Florida and Playa Flamingo/Taminrindo, Costa Rica.

Sisters Day!

Today is Sister's Day everyone! This is a holiday my family made up awhile ago to celebrate sisters! I figured by spreading the word, maybe other poeple will celebrate, too!

A two picture kind of day!

Usually the rule is one picture per day, but this was just too good not to get two pictures of! I walk by this house almost every day and wonder what in the heck these nets were for.
Now I know!

I guess the cats enjoy sitting outside on a nice day?

That's me picking apples at the nearby Linvilla Orchards! It was pretty hot but it was still fun. Linvilla Orchards is a cool place to bring your family- they have a "fall festival" atmosphere, hay rides, pumpkin patch and play areas for kids!

History Ghosts

I saw this history interpreter crossing the street but could not get my camera out in time to get a picture from the front! She is like a ghost of Abigail Adams or Betsy Ross!
By the way- today is Constitution Day! So go read the Constitution or plead the 5th or use your freedom of speech to celebrate!

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Jim's Steaks

Jim's Steaks on South Street are, in my opinion, the best steaks in the city! I took this picture from outside while we waited in line to take my sister there when she visited. How do you like your cheesesteaks? With or without? Provolone, American or Wiz?

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Franklin Bust

This bust of Ben Franklin is decorated all over with keys! I guess he holds the "keys" to the city.
