History Ghosts

I saw this history interpreter crossing the street but could not get my camera out in time to get a picture from the front! She is like a ghost of Abigail Adams or Betsy Ross!

By the way- today is Constitution Day! So go read the Constitution or plead the 5th or use your freedom of speech to celebrate!

Franklin Bust

This bust of Ben Franklin is decorated all over with keys! I guess he holds the "keys" to the city.

City Tavern is a cute restaurant on 2nd and Market. They serve food based off recipes from the Revolutionary Era and even beer created from recipes by George Washington & Ben Franklin!

Elfreth's Alley

Elfreth's Alley is the oldest residential street in the United States! It is still used today, and most of the houses are still occupied. (27 out of 32 are currently lived in)

Valley Forge Reenactors

Revolutionary era characters at Valley Forge Park. I assume they are reviewing important war tactics.

Here is another Phanatic statue. This is one is found outside the Franklin Institute and appears to be of Ben Franklin!

Independence!

On July 8th, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read publicly for the first time in Philadelphia right outside of Independence Hall. On July 8th, 2010 (and July 8th every year) there is a reenactment of this event!

Liberty Bell Phanatic

Fans of the Phanatic will be happy to see that I found another one of these statues lurking about the city! This guy is in the in the visiters center at the Liberty Bell.

Pennsylvania Hospital, founded in 1751 by Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond.  This is the nation's first hospital and the statue pictured here is in the back of the historic side of the building.
