30th Street Station

Through a series of unfortunate events (including my husband leaving his car keys, our only car keys, at work, as well as running in the pouring rain) we ended up at 30th street station last Saturday so we could catch the train out to Lansdale. This is the view from the 30th street station platform! Mind the gap!

Italian Market Festival

The busy street at the Italian Market Festival a few weeks ago. This is 9th and Washington St. The festival was Saturday and Sunday and they had music, Italian food booths (cannolis!!) and other random booths with clothes and crafty things.

Love Fountain

The fountain in Love Park. The fountain is a nice background to the LOVE sculpture, but also looks good by itself! In October, they dye the water pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

LOVE

A well known Philadelphia landmark, the LOVE statue in Center City. I really like this photograph, with the fountain and buildings framing the statue. Happy Friday!

Subruban Station

I think the sign at Suburban Station is really retro-cool. This train station is actually in Center City Philadelphia, not in the suburbs as the name implys!
I dont really know what that dot is, but I know these is something wrong with my camera. Not sure what to do about it.

Caged In

While waiting for breakfast one morning last weekend we saw this little guy in the courtyard outside the restaurant. He is all caged in.

Scenes from the highway

This is a shot I took from the Schuylkill highway (76 westbound) of the Schuylkill river. There was a big collegiate crew race going on and I was trying to capture the race but you couldn't quite see it through the trees!

row row row your home

Classic Philadelphia row homes. I love the look of these streets when the homes all have painted different color shutters and doors!

Free Hugs

Any takers?

As we watched the Free Hug people try to hand out hugs, another group walked  by with signs proclaiming "Smile, you are beautiful."  The smile people and the hug people met in a giant happy, smiley hug-atopia (it was amazing).

Please keep off grass

As we can see, these signs and yellow rope are very effective!

(although this guy did have a really cute puppy!)

Merry-go-round!

Horse on the merry-go-round in Franklin Square.  Kind of creepy and kind of pretty at the same time!

Peddlers Village

Tulips in Peddlers Village.  Peddlers Village is a cutesy shopping area in Bucks County, North/West of Philadelphia.  They have all kinds of stores from food to clothes, candy and nic-nacs.

Bottle Gate

I always walk by this gate and want to take a picture of it and I finally did!  The gate goes into someone's side yard and is decorated with different color bottles in a random pattern.  Just another example of the interesting artwork you can see all around Philadelphia!

Theme Day: Statues

Pennsylvania Hospital, founded in 1751 by Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond.  This is the nation's first hospital and the statue pictured here is in the back of the historic side of the building.
